Spring flowers covered with snow

It was just third week of March in Norway and I saw spring flowers. I was so excited to see those flowers and thought the winter is over. However, the next day it started snow and continued for three days and all those spring flowers were covered by the snow. I feel more snow this time than in whole winter this year. The temperature also went to -15C for couple of days. The snow still exists everywhere. I am now confused whether the bloom of spring flower heavy snow at this period is unusual. Some may link this condition to weather change or global warming but it could be just natural phenomenon.

Easter eggs!

Easter is one of the holy festival in Christian community. The schools and colleges are closed for almost a week for it. I have very less knowledge about this festival but I have seen 'easter eggs' everywhere, in shops, in corridors and in tv advertisements. The pictures below are the colorful real eggs shells hung in the twigs of trees decorated in a corridor. I like the paintings made in the shells after drawing out the yolk from the eggs.

Oslo's few skyscrapers

I have not visited Oslo for sometime. This week I was there for a conference and I could take some pictures of the one of the tallest buildings - Radission SAS hotel and Aftenposten building. Oslo has very few tall buildings and this hotel building is only 34 stories. The hotel is connected to central train station with the bridge in the picture. The entrance lobby of the hotel is in one of the picture.

Snow and frozen pond

I experienced different winter this year (2008) in Norway, at least where I lived. The temperature didn't go less than -10C for few days though it used to be -10 to -25C for months in earlier years. The snow fall started very late and it lasted hardly for a week. However, it rained more and that might be the reason for melting of snow. Here are few pictures during the snow and freezing cold where you can see a pond completely frozen and suitable to walk or skate.

Colourful clouds from Norway

I have never seen beautiful clouds like this before. Something amazing is happening this year in Norway. The usual snow clouds and cold winter seems changed. Instead, blue sky with colourful clouds was not expected during winter in Norway. The experience of warm winter, no snow till the end of January is really an another research question. Anyway, I could forget the snow or temperature change by looking this beautiful picture.

Freezing cold and snow

The winter of the year 2007 has started in Norway. The temperature is going down slowly and it has reached around -5C. This is not a very low temperature as it may go up to -25C, where I live. This is south of Oslo, warmer and brighter than Northern Norway. The area in the picture, around the horse, was frozen, whitish in color but not snow. The pond has completely frozen for the first time of this year. The first snow of the season is seen in the street. However, this year, the temperature went down even before snow.
